Position Location: Shenandoah National Park is located in Virginia, approximately 90 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The park consists of approximately 197,000 acres of land, including 80,000 acres designated as wilderness. It also contains 105 miles of Skyline Drive and 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Annual visitation is around 1.4 million, which has direct and extensive economic impact on the surrounding area (eight counties and nine municipalities). The park's natural, cultural and recreational resources are of vital interest to local and regional businesses, political leaders, conservation and outdoor recreation organizations, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Natural and Cultural Resource Division in Shenandoah National Park. Responsible for executing actions in human resources, travel, information systems, office management, property and procurement. Serves as the point of contact for personnel, payroll and travel for the division. Performs various administrative duties such as initiating paperwork for personnel actions, tracking employee appointments, researching and advising on time and attendance, advising on travel regulations, securing supplies and providing general administrative support functions. Serves as a point of contact for a credentialing center for processing Homeland Security credentials.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (MANDATORY): This position has a selective placement factor (screen-out) which will be used to determine minimum qualifications for this position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs), competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position is experience such as: maintaining a filing system both electronic and hard copy; experience preparing employment actions, documents, and time and attendance; experience with administrative processes and procedures involved in travel authorizations and vouchers; managing databases/systems and preparing reports; and experience with commonly used word processing software and computers to develop correspondence, memos, forms and other standardized documents.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Time-in-grade requirements, if applicable, must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
